Of course many consider us to be a little backward.
Lots of places round here won't take them - used to be the favorite to counterfeit.
I had heard that a way to detect whether a $100 bill was counterfeit was to hold it up to a strong light to see if the face of Lincoln were, in fact, the original face on the bill.
The usual method customers would use to pay me at my booth at the TCA Meets @ York, PA, was in $100 bills. Mr. Kughn was particularly fond of giving me whole stacks still wrapped with the little paper bands banks use. As a result, I still often use $100 bills to pay for purchases, and often tell clerks to look for the face of Lincoln as a way to double-check, right in front of me. I usually have 5-7 of the bills in my wallet, for unexpected expenses, and because I never know what seminarian or priest I may come in contact with who can use a little boost.
