I don't understand why that is interpreted as being a statement by Satanists. Isn't that type of star a Jewish-favored symbol, as is the color blue? I just don't get it as anything but a new self-expression by a contented and proud Jewish home or establishment .

On fact, interpreting that decoration as anti-Christmas or pro-Satan seems insulting to Jewish folks .

But I am very sure someone here will explain it to me and further straighten me out .

Murph, it's probably put there by some idiot who can't see the difference in the "Star of David" as compared to a pentagram, which has the circle around it. Obviously, they're uneducated. You can tell by the spelling.

Exactly - it's a display of gross ignorance.

BRAVO!! Thanks, guys, for the confirmation. I was afraid I just wasn't "getting it." The writing atop and below the photo seemed intellect-challenged, that's for sure, but the photo itself just seemed nice to me, maybe because the only houses in my childhood neighborhood that were not festooned with decorative lights at Christmastime were those of our Jewish friends and neighbors. We always took that as simply their choice and religious commitments. the absence of lights on some houses never affected us in the least. What was important to us were the friendships and the privacy of each other's religious convictions.

This blue star and its attendant white lights, in that photo, just seemed to me to be , perhaps, a new idea, about which I was curious to see how far such a new custom might have spread or might be spreading among Jewish communities and culture.

Thanks, again, Rufus and Mitch, for the backing-up. I was almost sure I was going to be mocked, but figured, "So what!" Your words meant a whole lot more to me than any negative mouth might have.

"Athetits" is a corruption of the word "atheist" and is used as a jeer or insult at atheists. Its use is similar to the use of a familiar corruption of the word, "negro."

The Atheist/Jew connection.

Many Jews believe Jesus was no more than a prophet. Many Christians believe Jesus is God. Some come to the conclusion that if you do not believe in Jesus you do not believe in God and are therefore an atheist.

The Satan/Jew connection.

John 8:31, 40, 44. New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him...

40 "...but now you are trying to kill me..."

44 "You are from your father the devil, and you choose to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Mistaking the Star of David as a pentagram (deliberately misspelled pentigram?) is true ignorance. Only the truly ignorant would say the things displayed on the image Rufus just posted. Jesus was speaking only to the Jewish mob that was out to kill him, not to all Jews. Jesus asked God to forgive them.

Luke 23:34 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing."

The haters would be wise to give up their hatred.

Matthew 6:14-15 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Considering our conversation, so far, Rufus, Mitch, and Wayne, instigated by that photo, I will share a little real-life moment from my own life. You may find it pertinent. I sure do.

While I was still teaching high school English, a colleague of mine, who was a female, Jewish, and taught mathematics, and I were relaxing in the school library during our lunch break. During that time, we often covered a wide variety of topics.

On one particular day, she had heard that part of the Bible had been included in the Senior-level literature textbook, which naturally would bring up the subject of religion among the students after class, some of whom went to her with questions. They knew she was Jewish.

Also, they knew I was Christian.

During this impromptu conversation in the library, I asked her (and this is an exact quote), "What do the Jewish people think of Jesus? Who do they think he was?"

She replied, "We don't think of him at all."

What else was there to say on the topic? Absolutely nothing. The reply was brilliant because it had not been intended to be brilliant, and it was saturated with her truth and candor. I loved it. That moment meant a great deal to me.

We never spoke of religion again. We could see there was no point in doing so.

To simplify it as much as possible, Christians believe that Jesus is the Savior, who came, died, rose, and will come again. All New Testament. The Jews believe in the Old Testament, and they're still waiting for the Savior. Believe what you will, there's no reason to ponder religion. And I believe the misspellings were out of pure ignorance, or stupidity. 'Nuff said!

"Nuff said," notwithstanding , some folks find it complicated that Jesus was a Jew, a nice Jewish boy.

I'm not saying that they are stupid, but some people just have bad luck when it comes to thinking.
