Hey Murph, missed you at York today. Hope you are well and just taking a break...

Thank you, Healey. I was not there because I had not crafted enough inventory since selling-out last October to justify a presence with its attendant expenses, so I let TCA know in March I was not going to need "my usual spot.". I have only five vignettes available, compared to my usual 40-ish Insta-Ramas. On top of that, I have had walking-pneumonia for the past 3-4 weeks and seem to have scarred my voice with so much coughing and hard vomiting that I may have changed the sound of my voice, it seems, still. Plus, I lost nearly all my interest in food, though I do try to drink plenty of fluids. Last Sunday was my first venture out since before Easter, having gone to be Lector at Mass, but came straight home afterwards for a nap. Today, given the pleasant temperatures, I ventured out for a short walk and sitting in the yard.

I had been wondering about your absence and quiet attributing it all to preparations for York.

Take your time and get lots of rest!!!!

Oooog, Murph mate. Careful with that! Glad to hear you're on the mend, albeit more slowly than you'd like I'm sure. We're with you, though.

Cheers

Good choice for first venture out. I have had the stomach flu for a week. I notice reading the bible takes my mind off all the pain and gurgling. May you be completely well soon Murph.

I read your post about the bold coyotes of Manhattan. Seems so strange to read that as the desert coyotes here are so shy. They need to be... it is open season on them all year. The take of coyotes by hunters has been relatively stable during the past 10 years, about 13,000 hunters taking an average of between 30,000 and 40,000 coyotes a year.

A testimonial to their ability to adapt to and survive different situations no doubt.

Sidebar to Murph: Glad to hear your're feeling better!

Wayne,

Coyotes have figured out that people in New York are not allowed to have guns [theoretically]
but almost everybody in Arizona has a gun.

I can't figure it out.

No-one is whinging about the weather now, are ya?!

Lovely time bombing the B Roads with the hood er top down soaking up the lovely sunshine.

Saw a male hummingbird at the place where I usually hang feeders, so he must be a guy who made the round trip to the Yucatan and back to my front yard. How brilliant is that! So, out I go to hang some feeders for the little perishers when I see this robin all upset and hopping about. I also can hear some serious cheep-cheep, so discover this little guy in one of the window wells having somehow gotten under the cover.

So Mama Robin supervised my removing the cover and letting Junior out free again, and little one obliged me with a quick pose or two.

He can fly pretty well, but has no tail yet and doesn't steer for $hit.

Ah, Spring!

whinging??? Very interesting.........

Ok, I was at my place on Fri. and my mower had not been delivered - stored by the machinist down the road. Odd since it's always there before I get there. Visited him and he's up to his gills with people wanted their mowers, etc fixed since the crack of dawn. So, I go get 5 gallons of gas knowing he'll bring the JD 285 round later. Get back and decide to get the F-cub running. Nope! Battery is too low or I've got a bad connection. Not only that it's stuck in gear. Get my daughter to stand ont he clutch and push it out of the shed. Fiddle with the connections and the end of the cable connector falls off - well, that's a bad connection! Get that back together - still got a bad battery........and no mower. Back to the machinist and he's loading up the 285 and loans me a 6v battery off one of his vintage Allis-Chalmers under the tarp in his shed. Take it back, loaner battery in, she stands on the clutch and it fires right up. 2 problems solved...... Let up on the clutch and Whoa! We're in reverse heading back to the shed! Shut it down and about that time my mower arrives......machinist gets up on the trailer, turns the key and......nothing. He jumps it and tells me I just need to take the top off the transmission/shifter plate and I'll see how that supposed to go and to fiddle with it a bit..."You can fix that...." and he departs. After mowing for 3 hours, I decide to fiddle with it and after getting it apart, and poking about the innards a bit, it pops into neutral. Back together and everything is just ducky. Tractor running and mowing done....and even got a bit of the exterior painting done on that patched over window.

And, then we found out that the hot water tank was not working..............

And, those damned pileated woodpeckers just laugh and laugh and laugh.

Cold weather and fire in the fireplace seems to hold some attraction now for some reason......particularly since today I after work I planted canna lilies.......and tomorrow I'll plant..........canna lillies and elephant ears.

You need to get one of your clowns to handle the woodpeckers.

Sarge, you are sounding extraordinarily chipper these days...must be all that fresh air and an open car. We're having wagers out here on what will bust first on the MG...

Forgot to mention that I spent the next morning over at the Amish farm auction and bought my daughter a cast iron skillet for cooking up those woodpeckers!
