Tramp,

I agree with Murph who may have had similar experiences to yours.
BUT "SHE" is now married to a minister. Happily? What might he think?
What does your wife think? Does she know about SHE? Will/would it
change anything with her? Were you looking for SHE or did you find her
by accident? I sometimes find old friends by accident and sometimes I
hunt for them. Often I don't want to talk to them, just wonder where
they are and if they are still alive. SHE must have been impressive.

I got married when I was 20, I was ready, and I am still married to my
SHE. If my SHE knew I was communicating with certain lady-friends
from the past it would be very difficult for me around the house.
We have been married 61 years.

I don't question why you still have a poem about her.You are a writer
and writers save what they write just as music composers do. I am
not a composer but know some.

I support thread drift.

Roger, of course Daisy knows about the poem. Do you think I would put it on a public forum if she didn't? The poem is hopefully more universal than the past situation. As to the SHE in the poem, she spent a lot of time in New York going to celebrity parties, etc., married someone famous, which was written up in the New York Times. All that. It's only very recently that she ended up in Texas. What's funny is that SHE still can't paint at all, although SHE still calls herself a poet and a painter. Ha!

Hi Tramp, I think you meant to address Roger with this reply.

Murph, I was just going to fix that. Man, are you fast! Give a guy a few seconds. However, this is for you: did you actually read the poem?

Yes, and I took you at your word, that she - the whole moments of it all - meant something to you, no matter the "choking" on both your parts. Did I miss something essential in your poem of gain and loss, no matter how temporary or long-lost? And missing? The physical, be it cold (of many sorts) or what lips can say or do, do not diminish a story of connection, in my estimation. Connections matter. No matter the body part or mind or soul. It's amazing what can be resumed, at any level. To me, your words suggest much more than on the page. Like the visual arts, we can each derive interpretations that are our own from another person's experience, as related on the canvas. Heat is heat.

And women have been known to be vapid , vaporous and empty, vain and self-focused. That does not diminish their ability to touch and affect. Only the quality is affected.

I've heard it said, just recently, and certainly not when I was a teenager, that every woman has an agenda which she keeps secret from the men who swear loyalty to her. Now, I have no idea if that fits every one of them, but I thought it was worth noting when I first heard it. It seems relevant here, perhaps.

And she choked badly in my moment,
Murph all women have an agenda. It's security and who will raise their chlidren the best. Some women just have higher needs.

Don't send it. Burn the contents into your memory, then burn the paper it's written on, and never think of it again.

Send it? No. Publish it in one of your column / articles and write about it, and then close that door to that room in yourself.
I expect nothing and I’m still let down.

I like the poem, but SHE closed the door with you a long time ago (from what I gather by your story.) Not a good idea for the one a door was closed on to open it. [opinion]

If you publish the poem, and SHE should happen to see it, that would be different.

Somehow, the owl does not seem lonely out there; rather, he seems in charge of his element. Such confidence!

Given the average size and weight of us, can you imagine what the wing-span would have to be for us to have natural flight, if we had wings.

You and I? I like that you ask the easy questions. Answer: 28 ft wing span.

Did you take into account the weight of those wings themselves in that calc?
