Looks like a managed to get home from South Carolina just in time to not snowed on. But, it does look from that map that my place in PA did get some snow.....

Oh Yea the Amishman waived his hearing and only got a fine. Don't know how much. I knew he would git off w/ just a fine. Hell if that would have be me I'd still be in he pogie...........................

Killing a Bald or Golden Eagle subjects a person to maximum fine of $5,000 or one year imprisonment under federal law 16 U.S.C. 668(a); 50 CFR 22 depending on how the judge is feeling that day. Second offense doubles that. Possesion of one Bald or Golden Eagle feather has the same maximum fine or imprisonment.

Hope you guys north of us are surviving. My niece, currently at University of New Haven, got over thirty inches...that was about the highest total I've seen.

We missed it here in northern Maryland. Came home from work yesterday to a flock of Robins in the trees out front...not sure what they are thinking. Wouldn't have expected them for another month.


Maybe Phil was right, and it is going to be an early Spring...we can hope...

Ever heard of a liberal judge? On the other hand, the law is a bit ridiculous in that the American Indians, as a way of life, have for centuries used the Eagle feathers in ceremonial headress. Apparently, they too are subject to imprisonment now for possessing a feather which fell from an aerie on a cliff high above the reservation. Remember, we still keep them, (the American Indian) penned up and in poverty.

I know his fines were 5,000.00 and another 5,000.00 to replace the eagle plus probabation time if ya read the newspaper article. So in all he is gonna pay 10,000.00 in fines.

Hmmmm..... So, we got 2 sides of the coin - protect the eagles vs. too much protectionism. Not sure what kind of balanced solution there is for that situation, but I'm sure not in favor of killing them. Trapping and relocating??? I don't know enough.....

IMHO this is very common today.Somehow it seems that we go too far with a good thing.Cost too much to clean up manufacturing plants so just close them and move to a country that doesn't care.Stop a project for a flea of some kind.I won't go on.Everyone probably knows what I mean.
