An expansion of the 2 ladies sitting off to the one side just outside the boat house on the right = did not come too good, :(

That's an interesting building.
Is the one to the rear connected?

I don't know why I would expect you to know that.
Unless those buildings still exist, you're not that old.
:)

No idea, but I don't recall either in Chambersburg. Things have evolved in appearances over the last 100 years....

I don't think I've ever noticed a Belpaire firebox on something that small before. Any idea of the year on that picture?

I was wondering if anyone might notice that ......picture is from 1920; engine was acquired from the Baltimore & Lehigh and was built by Pittsburgh in 1887.

BTW, that's also a narrow gauge line.

There are some Belpaire fireboxes on some really small European locos.

I've found one of the best sources of photos to be the real photo post cards (RPPC) that were popular 100 years ago -- great records of history!!!!

Most of what I post are RPPC's and the last several have been from Laughlin who had a studio in Shippensburg, PA - highly collectable and now getting beyond crazy in price.

I realize that things must change but when old buildings are taken down I have pains.
In my home town, to make way for a needed four lane highway, nearly 1500 houses were removed.
The old PRR and B&O railroad stations were raed. Both were built in the late 1800s.
One that really hurt was a three story fire station that was built in the early 1870s. They actually
made an attempt to move it but it collapsed during those preparations. The only true mansion
that was called "The House That Jack Built" was torn down to build a motel.
In the 1970s it was decided to modernize Savannah, Georgia. Fortunately wiser heads prevailed
and Savannahs old buildings are a tourist attraction. There are some things beyond repair that
must be removed. There are also many things that can be saved if people cooperate to find the way.
