Not the most erudite bit of entertainment, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick from a monkey....

Does appear to be fun.
Could get boring after a while.

HEARD today:
"Less White, less married, and less church," spoken by James Carville on MSNBC, The Place for Politics, when it was said to him that this is not the world he grew up in. "I know it's not," was the first part of his reply.

Well. Seems James spoke the truth.

So?
Things change and people change otherwise stagnation sets in and collapse from within occurs. All the handwringing over change and this backwards looking "we need to go back to...." is just fear of change and fear of the unknown.

I didn't get "fear" or "hand-wringing" in their conversation. The "backwards looking" appeared to have been suggested as a very relevant factor in wisely utilizing resources for effective campaigning, i.e. change and adjust to survive and succeed.
My perception was they didn't discuss merit; rather, the phenomena of various occurrences. A shift in demographics, as affecting elections, seemed to be at the core of their discussion.
As far as the "So?" is concerned, they seemed to give great value to being aware of change and adjusting intelligently to it, especially when looking across the entire American society, curently being affected by a Presidential campaign, for candidates like Mrs. Clinton (compared to Mr. Clinton's campaigns). Mr. Carville was, and is, a familiar of theirs, apparently.
Lamentation wasn't even between-the-lines, as far as i could perceive. They seemed intent on intelligent decisions being effected as far as understanding the demographics and wisely using resources and energies were concerned. That was the "so."

If that was the case, then their awareness is only a very recent phenomenon as just about every prediction made by pundits regarding the campaigns has been very close to being very wrong - the 2 parties have consistently misread the mood of society and I'm unsure that they are not still standing staring at the pyramids knees deep in the river Nile.

That is not quite far enough, the average diameter of the Earth is 12,742 km.
Also, where is that photo taken. If I dig straight down from Tucson I end up in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Madagascar.
