It is a dark morph of the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.


As I pointe out in the first photo, "Here in Columbia they already look beat-up in September."
This specimen has part of the wings between the tails ripped out.

Here is one that is not so beat-up.

Now it's white.........blue to white shift flower......hmmm........

Not a color shifter. Kentucky has 25.862 million acres of these blue flowers and one with white flowers (based on my limited observations.) I found the one while one while bicycling around our property yesterday.

Possibly a tiny turntable for reversing rail speeders?

Seems linked to the switch as well. Maybe for reversing small engines to run around the trains? I see gearing but nothing obvious for actuating that gearing to rotate the section.
