Thanks, Wayne.
Reading the attachment,it seems to me that calling it a hash, at least in the U.S., became more common after computers became more widely available.

Tick of some sort?
As the literacy rate declines, you’ll ask yourself why the quality of life continues to deteriorate in ways large and small, and in almost every instance the answer will be: because people stopped reading.

Arachnid, eight legs. That means a spider, a scorpion, a mite, a harvestman (daddy long legs), a solifugae (predominately old world), or a tick. Not a scorpion, a mite, a solifugae or or a true spider. That leaves a tick or a daddy long legs. No idea of the scale of the image or the length of the legs. Unlikely to be a tick because why would a tick hang out on a battery? I would guess that it's a harvestmen (daddy long legs) possibly Leiobunum Flavum MAC67

KENTUCKY HARVESTMEN
Including Daddy-Long-Legs
Critter Files/Harvestmen
By Blake Newton
University of Kentucky, Department of Entomology

"Long-legged harvestmen species are usually called 'Daddy-Long-Legs.' Many of the daddy-long-legs encountered in Kentucky are in the genus Leiobunum." Be very cautious trying to identify species without the aid of a microscope. Females in particular are notoriously difficult to identify."

I identified this one as Leibnum sp, so you got it right, Chuck.

No.

First symbol is, "Version."
Number is, "Serial Number."
Last symbol is, "Manufacturer."

Approximately 3,500,000 of these were made in Japan.
