Jon, I still need a running report on the big guy so I can sleep in complete peace tonight.

That one photo made my screen saver as well.

Hey hobos, anybody doing supper in this camp tonite? I got a loaf of fresh sliced Italian bread, a pound of pepperoni, and a pound of smoked pepperjack cheese. No beer, but I got coffee. You all are welcome.

Tramp, she runs like a super-charged 16 cylinder Duesenberg!!! I'm pretty impressed that the Hall Effect Sensor on this model works so perfectly.(my Hudson and Niagara were horrible, hence the upgrade)
But just like the Hudson and Niagara, no EOB will be needed. These engine's seem to have the ability to regulate their own speed, it's pretty awesome.
The labored chuffs and steam blow-off are the best!! The whistle will send chills down your spine and the bell is perfect. I'm a very grateful man. Gary is sending a new set of traction tires and said your Berk is just about out of surgery, a full recovery is expected.
Take one more sip from the jug and lay your head down Brother, and dream of that Rock Candy Mountain.

First game today, at Lime Ridge. Beautiful spot for a ball park, hard on the edge of the former Pennsylvania canal, right behind the visitors dugout, (undone by the DL&W maybe a half-mile to my rear, and the Pennsy across the river) with the Susquehanna River in the background.

I was shooting from a natural rise beyond left-center, but then, I spot a celebrity in the crowd!

Sadly, she wasn't in garb for her stint in Pete's Pub later in the evening!

31 years ago, on this very day, the old girl and I tied the knot. So we celebrated by splitting a 12" Subway Italian hoagie. She had Sierra Mist, I had a Pabst, which leads to the all important question, "Why does canned beer suck in comparison to the same product served in a glass bottle? Inquiring minds want to know.

It's not always true, but freshness being the same, beer stored in glass picks up no taste, beer in metal does. If the beer hasn't been in a can too long (two months or less) it should taste about the same. At least beer in cans is not poluted by light, which damages beer rapidly, clear glass being the worst, then green, then brown.

So let me get this right Tramp, If one was to line a glass bottle on the outside to keep light out, you'd have a nice crisp beer every time?, or at least should have,,,

I'd line the can with glass. Most beer still goes progressively rotten after 90 days.

Beer in closed 12 packs or cases does much better than open racks.

I've noticed for quite a while that canned beer doesn't taste as good as bottled. I always thought the bitter taste came from being chilled, then getting warm, then chilled again. Pittsburgh Brewing Co. came out with aluminum bottles about a year ago. Haven't tried it yet but I would think it would taste like canned beer. By the way, why does bottle beer always taste better in a bar as opposed to at home, especially if there's a juke box on and a pool table present? Thanks for the congrats, Jon, She's a keeper!

Depending on the bar, many times it's a fresher product. This, however, has changed in recent years. Bar beer can be colder as well.

I'd say the "bar atmosphere" had something to do with it. Especially if it was a topless bar with a pool table. :D
