Re: Seen in Print
Those big ships never interested me whatsoever. The main reason is I have always been easily made dizzy. Just ask several of the ride (like the Tilt-a-whirl) operators at Kennywood Amusement Park , in West Mifflin, PA, very near my childhood home. Even as an adult , I can't even do a good Waltz whirl across a dance floor without having to run for the nearest restroom or trash receptacle.

The wife and I were on 4 cruise ships.
2010 we flew to Hawaii and took the cruise around the islands
2011 we flew to Seattle and took the cruise to Alaska.
2013 we flew to Hawaii and took the cruise for our 50th anniversary.
When we were married we took the ship from San Francisco to Hawaii and flew home. It was a small ship called the Matsonia. I got sick the first night and the wife was sick the second night.
These new cruise ships are way bigger and so much nicer. Wish we could have done others before the wife passed away.

Just think, you could be on one now quarantined with coronavirus.....

But FREE room and board for the duration.
A nice room with a nice bed and a pot to piss in along with all the FREE food. I won't drink the Corona beer.

I'm also wildly claustrophobic, so finding myself confined to such a ship for such a reason, plus, having the swaying and tossing of the ship, I probably would, well, I guess, eat.
Then hurl.

The ships are in a port. No swaying and tossing. All the rooms we had were with a balcony. You will have a TV and internet access. Unless they won't let you you go to the dining area you will have catered room service.

Yes, a free room only slightly larger than a prison cell; all the folks locked in their inner rooms w/o windows are just loving this... Wait until the plumbing fails and the food that was on board is replaced with basic subsistence fare like bottled water and bologna & cheese.

Probably shove back out to sea. That dock space will be needed.

I'm not sure that they are not anchored away from the dock. Last film I saw looked like that was the case.

Heard an interview with an American couple aboard the shippnchired off Japan. Their plight is nearly what you've described.Rufus T. Firefly wrote:HONDO74 wrote:Rufus T. Firefly wrote:

Coronavirus outbreak: Passengers stranded on Japan cruise plead for help from Trump, say situation is 'desperate'

The cruise ship Diamond Princess is anchored at Yokohama Port for supplies replenished in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020. The 3,700 people on board faced a two-week quarantine in their cabins. Health workers said 10 more people from the Diamond Princess were confirmed sickened with the virus, in addition to 10 others who tested positive on Wednesday. The 10 will be dropped off as the ship docks and transferred to nearby hospitals for further test and treatment. (Kenzaburo Fukuhara/Kyodo News via AP)

There's a 2nd one off the coast of NJ now, too.

Re: Seen in Print
CBS reported tonight that apparently it is becoming more and more evident that an animal in China whose large scales are prized there for medical uses is the source of the disease. (Sorry, I missed its name but it has the appearance, in my estimation , of a scale-covered anteater or ground mole/sloth.)
Oh, brother .
Oh, brother .

Precisely. Animal Zero for the coronavirus, it appears.
Medicinal scales?!
