I've not used it but know many that swear by it; the inks and alcohol washes would seem a natural for you. Oddly enough, I use various MinWax stains and some Floquil CN grey and various other greys, browns, and "rusts" - also Bragdon powders...

Also, could I ask you guys to help judge? It would be a blind judging. You won't know whose tower was build by whom. (hint: mine will be yellow!)

Sure.
Just remember: what horses consider play, monkeys consider business, but to Tom it’s all foolery.

Ah, Brennan, sneaking about as usual. Come out into the light and fight like a Celt, you sneaky B!

Las Vegas is giving 5 to 2 odds on Brennan.

I will be entering the battlefield in full Celtic tradition. Big wood!

Do you hobos want to see progress shots as the water towers begin to form?

Or would that give away too many secrets?

So that's it! Never occurred to me the reason the mirror image is not as it appears in a mirror is because the artist was on his back.

Thank you for explaining so much about the mirror drawings. Now I can make a more intelligent comment on the advertisement in Art in America. The advertisement is an indication that the artist is turning the art world upside down. :D

Wayne, I just read your comment to Daisy who has been terribly sick. She is in the bathtub soaking in eucalyptus oil. It's the first laugh of delight I've heard from her in a week. Thank you! My friend.

You are welcome. I hope Daisy shakes off what is ailing her quickly now. The flu that struck Tucson last month put my friends out of service for up to two weeks. It did not miss me but my case was so mild I hardly noticed I had it.

Wayne, now please find some amazing water tower photos. Why are there so few online? I only have four good ones in color. Pretty useless without seeing color. Any good color pictures of weathered wood around rail yards?

Back in the day almost everyone used black and white film in their brownie camera.
Today, everything has been torn down. Even the wood trestles around Tucson that here when I arrived in 1971 have been replaced with concrete things.
Notice in this photo, even in 1900 SP used steel to support wood water tanks.

That's a really nice, clear shot of a handsome water tank, John Webster. I hope Tramp finds it useful and inspiring.
