Wow, Pete, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, very much! The photos (immediately saved and filed, under "Knowledge about Lancaster") are perfect for what I recall, and the instruction valuable. And I appreciate, especially, that your photos include the ground "covers". Thank you again. And I see in your photos that the boards that go from the carriage to the sides of the horses are black, too (not beige as I have had them. Thanks again!
Murph
P.S. In future, I will stick to these handmade by Roy Baker's Railroad Shop, and I will ask him to 2-tone the bodies gray and black, if possible, and the wheels black ( a detail I never noticed !) or do it myself, just as you have instructed and shown me.

P.P.S.I believe, from a brief conversation I had with Hev on the topic, if I recall correctly, all-black bodies are Mennonite vehicles.

I was glad to see that the horses were under tent out of the August sun, when I was there. Probably the only place the Amish would do that, and more'n likely a prerequisite of R & T. In my experience, (with the Amish up around Smicksburg), they treat their animals like a tool, and when the tool is broken, get rid of it. Most all those horses are washed out trotters from various racetracks bought on the cheap, and I don't think they're treated too kindly.

AG, no disrespect or nitpicking. On observing some of the older steel "shutters" down here in Houston and Galveston. the steel was/is flush with the brick and the "hinges" were swinging on steel L pins embedded in the brick :) FWIW FYI just my observations. they sure look good though. James TX
