I've spoken with a few bee-keepers over the years, and it was always my understanding that honey bees and their hives don't do particularly well in excessive heat. On more than one really hot day, I've seen the opening to a hive in an old dead tree or up under the eaves of an old house covered with worker bees, all hanging on and flapping their wings in a steady buzz...I've been told they do this to cool the hive. For that reason I thought bees might be scarce in desert regions...interesting to learn otherwise.

Lots of wildlife in the Hobo Jungle. This one is Leptotes marina (Marine Blue).

Most butterflies drink water by sucking on mud. That gives them some salt from the dirt plus avoids the danger of falling in the water.
This one tried to drink from the bird bath. A gust of wind blew it into the water. Surface tension held the wings perfectly flat while I snapped the picture.
After the photo shoot, I lifted it out of the water and put it on a rock. It waved its wings a few times then flew away.

Daisy Daisy,
Give us your answer, do!
We're half crazy,
to wish 'Happy Birthday' to you!
Please come to our celebration,
We'll make the fire a conflagration,
There'll be lots of 'bos, (hope Jon keeps on his clothes)
And we'll raise our tin cups to you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

All health and happiness!

It is something electric.
That a life will be spent gaining inches,
