As long as Peggy was hot and I did the "pegging" I could handle it.

HOBO ALERT! Sorry to use caps but this is serious. If any of you are brining, get your birds in the magic solution this evening, and DO NOT forget to calculate in the air drying time. Air drying gives the fellow that crisp skin.

Where is San? Won't seem like the holiday without him checking in.

Any menus ready to post? We're going simple: Bird, mashed, petite peas, crescents, local cranberries, and two pies already out of the oven: apple and pumpkin. Beer! Whisky!

Leaves were impeccably raked. However, 45 mph winds and neighbors who do not rake have changed those visuals a tad.

Happy Thanksgiving hobos!

Menu:-Turkey with mushroom and apple stuffing, fresh cranberrys and orange sauce, roast brussels, parsnips and turnips, mashed potato, sweet potato with marshmallow, no ones sure about dessert. Got some wine, life is good. I feel that I have a lot to be thankful for, I hope you do too.

The menu is the traditional New England fare.

More important is the family gathering here to share it.

I also give thanks for all the friends here in the Jungle. I'll hoist one to you.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Being the best chef in the house, I got unceremoniously kicked out of the kitchen a few years ago, been told to stay out, and have not looked back.

I have no idea what's for the menu!!!

Tramp,

The Toothless Bite was hilarious. I'll bet priests have many stories on the hazards of being a priest.

Good article, pretty much parallels my feelings on the matter. Was going to broach the subject of "Who are we thanking for what" but there's a lot of wisdom in that old saw that gentlemen never discuss politics, sex or religion.

At my junior (boarding) school they had a policy of sending us to a different house of worship every so often - it was compulsory to attend services at one of them every Sunday (which obviously rules out the synagogue but there wasn't one in that area of England) the idea being to teach us tolerance for different belief systems.

Despite any misgivings I may have about the existence of divinity and despite the abuses of those who take advantage of the credulous, on balance I'm of the opinion that its good for one to have a conscience, to be a contributing member of a community and experience has taught me that there's something reassuring about traditions and rituals. By and large the good outweighs the bad, I think.

What I don't accept is that there's only one religion that is the right one.
