So, in addition to verbal violence you also practice discrimination against the elderly?

Rick or who ever you are now,

You have mentioned bull and several other types of sh*t several times. You have proven that you know where of you speak over and over.I do not think that I have ever seen so much of it from one person on this forum.

No,you should not apologize to anyone but you would,I am sure, make many of us happy if you would just go away.Start your own forum or find something to keep yourself busy and happy.Just leave.

I have said things that I do like to say so will not respond further to this issue.

Wayne,

I believe you are 68 years old... you have been a person that I have enjoyed conversing with...

Sarge,

What can I say... at least you're consistent, and you're saying your piece... We haven't got along since day one, and if where being honest...pompous, and blowhard fit my perception/definition of you.

I'm curious... have any of you noticed that, I wasn't shooting the messenger, just the message re: personality disorders. I never said Dirt was an ******* or attacked him personally. The fact is... I took issue with his message, and I still do.

Dirt, in fact, was the one who started making it personal... reread his post where he starts on alternative therapies etc...those are digs. While your at it... look at the subtle digs Tramp makes.

Anybody else care to comment?

Rick,

Since you asked and Dirt invited the rest of us in on this...

You said to Dirt: "Oh ya, if you feel that there are superior well educated minds out there, that have a greater ability to interpret the issues we are discussing here... then by all means blindly follow these elite beings. I, on the other hand, think for myself; and I trust my intelligence, and my innate instincts to do what is best for my situation... no voodoo or earwax for me, either."

Rick, you are attacking Dirt's character. I respect Dirt and waited for him to invite me (the rest of us) into this part of the conversation as I know full well that Dirt can handle you alone.

You said to Tramp: "Tramp, you seem to feel that you have a lock on... homelessness and being on the streets. From what I can see, by what you have written,so far... it(your experience) is not much on substance... at the most, maybe a young guy(you) playing hobo... sort of, that run off and join the circus kind of fantasy, but done in the hobo theme. "

Rick, you are demeaning Tramp. You are also confusing homelessness with the hobo life.

You said to Tramp aimed at Dirt: "Sorry man, but Dirt's posts on this thread(especially his last tomb) is, in my opinion, erroneous/wishful thinking... basically bullshit. "

Rick, you are dismissing Dirt's occupation as worthless. That is an attack on Dirt.

You said to Tramp: "Playing pirates or Peter Pan... or hobo's must be fun... but you're just playing.. "

Rick, that is really demeaning and a cruel thing to say. Stop treating us like you prisoners.

You said to Dirt: "BTW, I hope this doesn't offend you... but as soon as you started spouting the personality disorder horseshit, my eyes gazed over... "

Rick, another attack on Dirt's occupation.

You said to Dirt: "...low and behold you, and nurse Ratchet(spelling?) have something in common... "

Rick, could be funny in a different context, but considering how you are obsessing on giving Dirt a bad time here, it is not funny.

You said to Dirt: "The kindest thing I can do, for you, re: the mental profession... is to abstain re: my viewpoint. "

Rick, that is really condescending. Something a prison guard or drill sergeant might say to a prisoner or recruit to break their will.

You said to Dirt: "One thing the readers might find interesting re: your profession is that... certain psychiatrists/psychologists get very vindictive... "

Rick, that is an attack on Dirt. You are calling him vindictive.

You said to Dirt: "Some people have contempt/disdain for certain professions... the mental health profession fits into that category for me. "

Rick, how many times must you say that you have contempt for Dirt's profession? It is really getting tiresome.

You said to All: "Even though my terminology("bullshit"/"horseshit") offends some... I felt I was talking amongst the guys, and gave my candid opinion. "

Rick, potty language is not offensive to us, just your use of it to demean Dirt.

You said to Dirt: "Re: your profession... I would be lying if I told you otherwise. "

Rick, again and again... your obsessive compulsion to demean Dirt and his profession.

You said to those over 30?: "When I realized that many of you were quite a bit older than I had originally thought... I was ready to go elsewhere. I immediately discounted a lot of you... because you were older(definitely a prejudice). Then I saw some current pictures, and I thought what am I doing hanging out with these old guys, online. "

Rick, yes I am 68 and now I know how you prejudge me as someone too old to be worth talking to. Thanks a lot!

You said to Sarge: "...pompous, and blowhard fit my perception/definition of you. "

Rick, that is Sarge's persona. Most of us love him for it. I hope you will not attack his personality again.

Rick, you disrupt normal conversation for the purpose of attracting all the attention to yourself. Mission accomplished. However, I must inform you that your personality disorder gets tiresome after a while.

"I don't mind feeding a troll a few table scraps, but I'm not going to feed it sweets." A great quote from Ben Franklin.

Rick, have a beer and come out of the closet.

Wayne and Pete, thanks for the synopsis of nasty comments. I got to read them without wading through Rick's poorly written posts.

On the whole homelessness is an interesting subject. And it's true, I don't think hobos and the homeless have much to do with each other. I tend to doubt there are many hobos left anyway. Years ago I watched two men try to basically kill each other arguing over who was a hobo and who was a bum. I found a very strict class system on the freights during those years, which surprised me. But what I've found generally in life is that any group is a microcosm of society in general with variations depending on the forces of survival. Until you have the four basics: safety, food, shelter, and warmth (or these days here in Maine, cool), a person tends not to think about all the other things they might want. Sickness changes even this equation. There can be no absolutes until we understand why we are alive. Since we have no clue about that, it's pretty difficult to be certain about anything except death. But even that might, for all its appearances, not be absolute.

Murph, I like your instinct of giving clothes and blankets. Can't go wrong there.

Everyone have a great Labor Day weekend. We've earned it!

Having read several of these posts,I can only say that after experience in nam with why people do what they do or end up where they are is not something that can be understood and solved by anyone in particular. I can understand where rick is coming from but neither do I think dirts comments are bull**** either. Most of us here are older and seen and experienced a lot and those experiences shape their thinking. One of the great things about this forum and the fella's who frequent it is that we can have these enlightening conversations and perhaps see a side to something we had not thought about. I do have a couple of thoughts however.

Murph from your picture I can tell you like I were former altarboys, so what happened?

Roger I had teachers in school some who just passed students and collected their checks, however the majority were people who were always trying to help you succeed and went above and beyond, believe people like you and Murph will be remembered by people like me until my dying day. :)

Been a busy summer, on vacation now plans include cutting up a big cottonwood, concrete work and setting mama's chicken house in place. Have a great labor day fella's chief

Your consistency is remarkable as well.

Rick

I can live with that. I'm like who I am, and I like who the rest of these people are.

Learn how to do that, and you'll be alright.

Guys,

I just spent considerable time... writing a well thought out response, and somehow I lost it...$#%^%!@#%&^%%&**^$#@%&())(*&)__+)_(&%#@%&&^$$%&&***&^%$$%^&&&^$$##$$^&&^%$%^***&^%$$%^&&**((((*^$@@#^**(()))))*^$##

I am not about to do that(go to that effort) again...

I just read Dirt's online assessment of me... Dirt, you are one of the many, in your profession, that have gone off on a wild, erroneous, tangent re: insight/understanding.

You are an excellent example of what is wrong with your profession... people who claim to be experts... when your(the mental health professions) body of knowledge is so primitive and lacking.

A big point re: my taking issue with you using words like personality disorders, and making ridiculous assessments; and claims re: my personal medical issues... is that you are speaking as if you are an expert, in the know... and what you have to say is the absolute truth.

Dirt, your profession is still in the dark ages re: it's understanding of most mental health issues. I've even had practitioners admit this to me, and my lawyer... basically these guys had the courage to admit that I had some legitimate issues, but they didn't know what caused them...

I had a psychiatry professor, at a major university, write that I had some legitimate medical issues, but, he was at a loss to explain them/identify them. The best he could do was state what I didn't have...according to him I did not have OCD.

I can respect those people that admit the body of knowledge is incomplete, and they're still in the dark about many things... hopefully progress will be made in these areas, but I doubt I will see it in my lifetime.

BTW, I have not taken any psychiatric medication nor have I been in any psychiatric hospitals etc...Dirt you have a very active imagination, and it appears you are a very vindictive person. I feel sorry for the patients in your care... you, and nurse Ratchet really do have a lot in common.

Are you saying, Rick, that the province and right to 'tell-it-like-you-see-it' belongs to you and you alone?

You've thrown enough insults around. Can you only 'dish it'?
