Glad to hear the big guy is out from under the cutter and cussin'. Best wishes for a successful recovery!

Please, keep us informed all along the way, as the healing continues and everything gets back to top form. And Hev, be patient w/ yourself. Eat well. And rest. Please.

Hev:

As I was told, Do what the Docotors tell you to do. I am glad to see you came out from under the knife ok. I also said I wasn't going to use a walker, but I did and also a cane as you saw when we met in Strasburg. Any way get better so we can meet at the Red Caboose Motel in the spring or summer. And keep me informed as to how you are doing. Ok?

Jim

I didn't even know you were being operated on again either. You must have forgotten to tell me you were going back in under the knife.

Did not know Hev was going in for anything, but always good hear that one is in recovery and doing well.

Recovery activities in moderation, rest as needed, and back home soon one hopes!

The thought of Hev in one of those hospital gowns is pretty frightening.
Patty called tonight and the big man is doing well. As a true hobo I really need to slip up that way and "watch" the other 9 gallons of rum for him. Hey, what are Bro's for?

Jon, LOL! You are one thoughtful and selfless hobo!! :D

Talked to Farmer Burkholder today! The lad had been up and out of bed in the early morning, courtesy of the Gestap… I mean, the nurses, and he’s yet in some considerable discomfort, considering that his doc told him he had to use some 50+ stitches.

I don’t know if he’s hallucinating on his morphine, if some Mafiosi owes Hev a favor, or he’s already yankin’ my chain, but Hev said he had a meal delivered to his bedside today by the hospital chef himself, with a fresh orchid on his tray!

(Next he’ll be telling me about the topless nurses fanning him with palm fronds…)

Anyway, his sense of humor is fully intact. He cracked a couple of jokes, related to lapses of privacy and dignity, backless gowns (*YIPES* ) and catheters coming out, and the surgeon telling him his ‘bones are hard’, etc, before the nurses were back in to minister some more, and he had to go.

The hobo’s a tough old bird. Might be coming home by the weekend! That’s freakin’ amazing all by itself.
Updates to follow…

Dirt, Our friends in the medical profession could give the Marquis de Sade a few tips! It is pretty hard to be macho with a catheter in your dingus and your arse hanging out in the breeze! Whoever came up with the idea for the hospital gown is probably still giggling! As for hospital food, it has come a long way, but I have it on good authority that there are NO actual chefs employed by hospitals! There was an old comedy album called "Hospitality" emphasis on the 'hospital' part where the guy talks about the nurse coming in and WAKING him up to give him a SLEEPING pill. I think there is some truth there! As for the 50 stitches, they are always in a location where the only way it DOESN'T hurt is if you DON'T breathe!

Hev, here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

Pete,

Tell Hev to remember Isaiah 58:8, "The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard."
