Re: We need an NW-2 thread, with photos

Seems my Katy picture disappeared during the server upgrade so I'm adding it back along with a couple "cow and calfs": Belt and Belt Railway of Chicago which was owned by the late Lou Cross and an Indiana Harbor Belt.

Re: We need an NW-2 thread, with photos

Jay,
I just took a look and it appears that I do not have a picture of it. I'll have to do that and post it here.

You can order Scalecoat 1 thinner on line from Minuteman Scale Models. I personally have not tried any substitutes.

Re: Anything new for painting delrin plastic

By suggestion from others, I tried Tamiya spray paint made for RC cars. It seems those cars are made of very flexible plastic and need to bend when they hit things, like other cars. So I got some from a local hobby shop and painted the flexible handrails on Weaver and Red Caboose engines. It seems t...

These were NOT $600 per car. They were vacuumed formed cars made by Barney Stemple (sp?)

Re: And Domestic Brass - see my Lobaugh thread

Charlie, Always thought the Kemtron mogul was way ahead of it's time. As a matter of fact I pulled one out of the storage unit today. A gift for Bob Jakl. Actually, Ed & Tom too. it needs a little work and they get to do it for their dad. Still have the original Kemtron used for their photos an...

Re: Mariposa Fire?

Hi All, Jay's map above is as accurate as we know. On Tuesday I was talking with my parents on the phone when it went dead as they lost power. They made it to my place Tuesday night. They are doing as well as to be expected. Today they went to lunch on the Santa Cruz wharf with my brother Tom. Elect...

Re: Actually some good stuff here today...........

Joe, We've been running a lot of Central locomotives on my Dad's layouts for many years and what we have found is crud (that is the technical term) tends to build up between the commutators on the armature. It must be from the brushes. Anyway, it ends up causing a large current draw on the motor, on...

Re: Nickel plating?

Pete. "Had" means I had it plated. Still have the locomotive. I soldered some brass simulated corrugation on the side prior to the nickel plating, and yes, I believe they started with copper plating first. It's decaled for the Burlington and on my Dad's layout. Sorry, but I don't have pict...
