Re: Union Pacific Streamliner Cars in 1/4 Scale - Wasatch Model Company 1/4 Scale

Not sure how I missed this thread, absolute beautiful models! Roger knocked it out of the park, even 30 plus years later, the absolute best O Scale UP cars in existence! Erik, if I understand correctly from an earlier post in this thread, you painted the magnificent cars after someone else missed th...

Re: Some SRR Steam Locomotives

Yep, he’s a hell of a great guy, NMRA MMR, builds beautiful pieces.

He gave a presentation on this particular model at the March Meet and it was featured in a recent OSR article. A great read.

Bob,
That’s great work and a unique beautiful piece.

I Try to be faithful to hobby suppliers also, a few years ago switched to Mc Master-Carr. It’s easier where we’re located.

Re: Key UP FEF 4-8-4

The new “craze” in 3R is custom, small quantity, “fantasy schemes” done by certain train stores, ie, Mr Muffin/Train World/etc that are not done by Lionel or MTH in a current catalog. Typically the manufacturer announces the “base” model (in this case a Big Boy) and then the train stores try to fulf...

Re: Key UP FEF 4-8-4

If I understand correctly, you're selling the Key not the USH, is that right? …. An OMI version just sold for $2600-2700 in the same gray paint scheme. For some reason the same model by OMI brings more $$$$ than those imported by Key. I just bought a gray Key Challenger recently with minor damage (...

Re: High price of brass!

Yeah, so many believe its only a lie if you get caught. People show remorse for being caught, not for committing whatever they committed. Not any more - now it's all about lying and celebrating the lie! Go on TV, on TikTok, and whatever social media and celebrate.... There's no consequences! BUT…th...

Re: High price of brass!

Brass trains are optional in my world. I choose not to participate in the madness anymore. There’s enough of being raped for daily life necessities vs ruining something I enjoy at my workbench. Your mileage may vary. We each have a “balance” the economy is ####ing up daily. There’s a few items I rea...

Re: Stout auction today.

That TTT had a history and two people wanted it, so the price escalated quickly. Depending what your tax rate is and add the premium fee, the true price was $5,0000 plus shipping. Not worth that to one of the bidders who walked away. Stout’s is the only place you can get a few hundred dollars worth ...

Re: Evolution of a brass detail casting

Butch, Producing parts in volume-no, not that I’m aware. A few parts have been produced by this method but only for individual use. It has its challenges. It is difficult to find casting companies in my area and none want to do small production number projects. One company agreed but the cost of mol...

Re: Evolution of a brass detail casting

But, I do understand your point about the casting improvements over the years. There’s some really nice stuff guys spent the time on making masters and that dedication shows when compared to earlier castings. This is an area where 3D printing can really be useful building custom components. The deta...
