Re: Flat car decking
Don't know if you're still around this forum, but do you have photos of what you ended up doing for your PS4 flats? The deck material they use on the newer cars sucks and I want to replace them. Still around - just retired two weeks ago and have been too busy for much surfing of the boards. As soon...

Re: Soldering Brass-What Am I Doing Wrong?
Like others, I am tool heavy and practice short. And Aaron, thanks for bringing up this topic - a great one! Two areas I have trouble with are... Resoldering a piece on a painted/finished car. Obviously a joint needs to be clean without paint. How do you deal with these small areas, then how oto dea...

Re: KEY drive I never knew existed
I have a Key RS2 (started out as Pennsy IIRC) with those motors in each truck. Not the best drive <g>. Had Jay remotor it and convert to P:48.

Re: Styrene spray painting
I cannot attest regarding Krylon, but I have used rattle-can Rustoleum gray primer, as well as Rustoleum Camo Brown, directly on Evergreen white styrene sheets and dimensional strips/shapes without any problem. I lay down the first coat fairly lightly.

Re: eBay selling advice?
eBay also has a new policy for transferring money to the buyer. It is no longer a simple PayPal transaction. You give them access to your bank account and they always take several days before transfer (think float). I am pretty much done selling on eBay. It's too much hassle for the seller and the a...

Re: Or you could have 3.325 Bethgons
It's a very well done brass model. I have the Truman era 2R version, and also had the 3R version when I was in that frame of mind. That price is way high - I got my 2R version from Jack McGarry a couple of years ago and it had never been opened and still had the original sealed Ajin wrapper for cons...

Re: Flat car decking
Butch, I had this same concern when I converted a Lionel PS4 flat car to P:48 and installed individual plank decking. The 1957 Car Builders Cyclopedia shows the decking material to be 2 ¾" thick.

Bill, sorry to hear about your breathing difficulties - get better soon. We will miss you at the show - was looking forward to seeing you, but at least we'll be able to see your work efforts on the dome car.
