Re: What Scale is 3-Rail?

The problem with that thread is that it continues the confusion of "Scale" and "Gauge". Most modelers know what scale means and differentiate it from gauge. Some of the manufacturers and many collectors do not. in O Scale, you can ON3, ON30, ON2 and others. These are all O Scale,...

Re: Norm's O Scale FYI

I corresponded with Norm via email and got the scoop. The website is down, he didn't say why. He said it will be down for awhile until he can get someone to work on it. He doesn't expect to be back up until sometime in the fall. The good news he is still in business and willing to help with our want...

Re: Norm's O Scale

thanks,

I just tried the website again, and it still comes with a "404 error" and a blank page.

Norm's O Scale

Is there any news about Norm Pullen - Norm's O Scale in Maine.

I noticed for the last 4-5 days, his website is down and seems to be gone. There is still stuff on facebook, but that could be old posts.

He is a good guy to deal with for O scale.

Re: Fisher Passenger Cars

I have not seen a Fisher car up close in years. The ones I saw back when were just gorgeous. I lived near Dayton/Cincinnati from 72-85 and that is when I got into O Scale. There was a local story about Joe Fisher and two local guys, Charlie Schwarm and Doc Fessler. The story was that when Joe delive...

Sunnyside Models

I recently picked up a pair of Sunnyside PRR N5C cabooses (cabins) they are very nice models with fine detail and nice rolling trucks. I had seen these years ago when imported, but could not afford them at the time. At that time, I think I remember seeing that they imported PRR H10 2-8-0s and PRR T1...

Re: Jeff Shultz's coverage of the 2022 NMRA National Convention & Train Show

The lack of O scale is glaringly obvious. Makes it hard to justify attending these things.

I did not notice any of the O Scale manufacturers or the toy train mfg on the list of mfgs.

Re: Another "rare" Bill Lenoir………..

Yes the BS meter on this one is probably Pegged to the right post! I was pretty sure that there was no such thing as CLW in 1941. I just looked it up, Bob Smith as CLW bought the Lenoir/Saginaw line in 1950. So this "example" is a Saginaw model, not CLW. Another hint is the open axle gear....

Re: Passenger Cars 2021

I sort of prefer GGD cars for model RR use. They are not as detailed as PSC or other brass, especially underneath, but they track well and the superstructures look good from -2-3 feet away. They are sturdy enough and cheap enough for layout use too. My budget could not justify a string or in my case...

Re: CLW? red plastic couplers

I used the CLW couplers for a short while when I first converted to 2 rail in the late 70s. The local Hobby Shop Owner, Bill Dannecker (Danny's Model Shop) was friends with Bob Smith own CLW and supported his products. I was asking him about couplers and choices and he recommended the CLWs. As I did...

Try Scale City Designs Website for a contact. They purchased the Keil Line product line and molds etc. They may have something for you.

Re: Hmmmmmm..........

Series wound motor does not imply uninsulated drivers. Series wound motors were quite common into the 50s for both AC and DC running. I have a Hines Mike that came with one. I replaced it with a permag motor to simplify wiring, but it ran fine with a travis reverse switch. It is two rail and now con...

Re: PSC DD40 Repair

That drive does not look unique or rube golberg to me. I have two older MG GP35s. The drive is similiar, but only one motor. Mine had open frame motors and I replaced them with can motors. The same gear box and universal mounts are used. The shaft comes out of both sides of the gearbox on GP35 to fe...

Re: A fixer upper for sure.....

the damage looks like it was dropped. There could be considerable damage to the frame and mechanism. The motor mounts could be bent or broken. the axles could be bent. The damage probably depends on how far it fell. It is a real fixer-upper/gamble. The tender looks OK. The loco is not worth much to ...

Re: poor

I get very suspicious when the photo shows the tender facing the wrong way with the loco. to me that means the seller has no idea what he is dealing with, has not idea of value, and has no idea of condition. And I agree, it seems in some of the photos of the bottom, the whole body looks slightly mis...
