Re: Clouser Boxcars
Thanks to Sarge for this post. Fred Bradley built and painted this Nickel Plate Products 50-ft boxcar: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/njrhf0eor84b8975y9y79/Bradley-NKP-Boxcar-GM-O-56901_02.JPG?rlkey=giyjfemk0axyefbsikqym75i6&st=ijos2dzf&raw=1 https://dl.dropbox.com/scl/fi/njrhf0eor84b8975y9y...

Re: Freight car projects
Neat cars. I was previously unfamiliar with that scheme. Very nice work! As an aside, a NOS kit in an All Nation box with Thomas instructions floated into my shop just last week. This is interesting, as I have read that the last stand for Thomas, which had been in Shawnee, Oklahoma, was Plano, Texas...

Re: John E Robinson collection
Thanks for posting, Greg. Some of the cars have already sold. I couldn't find a way to create a link to find all them, so I snagged a photo of each: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0tpptz0yqgtx5rct6vimx/Robinson-Boxcar-SNT-S-515_01.webp?rlkey=2qr60hydfwoj78hvtl9iyhq74&raw=1 https://dl.dropbox.com...

Re: Unknown coupler to me?
I believe I know how this works, as it is very similar in design to the Thomas draft gear, which can be seen here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/vtp4zy0e267p7p5hx30d7/Thomas-Working-Draftgear-01.jpg?rlkey=ghkze2lbitoja9ezp2fcgaqjw&raw=1 https://dl.dropbox.com/scl/fi/vtp4zy0e267p7p5hx30d7/Thomas...

Re: Paint Shop
Thank you for the kind words, Brian. It helps that our show layout is also our regular club layout (set up in the shop in between shows), so we have a more motivation to put effort into it than others might. It runs well and runs constantly, for nothing attracts and holds attention like motion When ...

Re: Paint Shop
I promised a video of Pete's T&NO Sunbeam in action at last weekend's Southwest O-scale meet, but I am sorry to report that not much of the video I shot of this train was usable. I did get one good run-by, so I mixed it in with some other video action and posted it to YouTube: https://youtu.be/l...

Re: Paint Shop
Alas, I didn't think to take any general photos of the show. I am just guessing, but I would think this show draws about 40 people. There were eight from our DFW club and I imagine about the same or maybe a couple of more from the OKC club that sponsors the show when it's in OKC (some years it's in ...

Re: Paint Shop
Is that some type of automotive primer that goes on before the finish paint? My brother painted the model but I primed it, and, yes, I used automobile primer. I would not have primed it, as Pete prefers to have control over the entire paint cycle. However, the sand-cast shell of the model had a goo...

Re: Paint Shop
Six years ago, I started work on a CLW cast PA for my brother's T&NO Sunbeam . Progress on this project has been reported in the "Machine Shop" thread. I finally finished the model in January of this year and delivered to my brother Pete for painting. He completed it in time to bring i...

Re: Kudos
It has been a busy week in a busy month, so I am slow to respond (and not just to this thread). It was great to get a visit from Bob. The kudos for him are well deserved -- it is no simple thing to pilot a plane as small and (relatively) slow as a Piper Cub from San Diego to North Texas. Here is pil...

Re: Shxt
I was in the Seattle area for a couple of days last week. I spent the better part of an afternoon with Dave. He regaled me with stories about his years on a nuclear fast attack boat as an electronic technician (lots of black boxes on those boats). We didn't run over to Bremerton so we could get a ph...

Mac Shops Budd Pacific-Series 10-6
Bob is correct -- the car is a Mac Shops product. I purchased the car built and painted but without trucks, couplers, or diaphragms. To my surprise, it arrived with Haynes McDaniel's autograph on the bottom of the car: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0ay9ice14dgtswchjfejp/Mac-Shops-10-6-UP-Pacific-Oc...
