Re: Upcoming Stout Auction

Just seeing this now. Yes, I agree with this assessment. An interesting failure mode, of which the only similar once I've personally witnessed is on MTH models where their diesel treadplate decking peels off the chassis. FWIW, TrainZ has another B-unit with the same failure: Sunset Models O Scale 2...

Re: OGR

As Norton said, this has been the modus operandi over there for years, myself included. You gotta buy a subscription to a 3R-train-focused magazine to get in. Scott Mann was going to try to get me back as a rep for him over there, but I basically refused. I won't put up with their practices for the ...

Re: Upcoming Stout Auction

but what is going on with what looks like glue all over the sides of these models? Is this where glued on panels came off? That's my impression as well -- I think the builder used contact cement to attach chromed pieces to the brass shell and the contact cement has failed. Just seeing this now. Yes...

Re: Upcoming Stout Auction

My observations: The Pantera IC 7-car set went for $4400+$836(19%)+ either tax or shipping. Sounds about right. I don't own any Pantera's, so I'd be curious to see one side by side with a like recent release from GGD. Most of the O-Scale final bids are a bit more than even I would have imagined for ...

Re: Upcoming Stout Auction

I'm not sure of all the nuances, but I heard the same rumor and if you click to learn more about a up and coming model you are whisked away to a new website called "Third and Townsend". Ok, sorry for the widely off-topic reply, and perhaps it warrants its own thread, but YES, these aren't...

Re: Minton Cronkhite trains in motion !

I'm a modern 2R operator, but I have slowly begun to appreciate the older trains for what they were in their era and I really liked the talk you gave on Vintage O Scale Trains 1924-1955 with OSC (O Scale Central). Thank you for taking the time to put it together and share it with all of us. Others c...

Re: Painting Classic Passenger Cars

I had not read that Dan Pantera, Calumet Model Works, had passed, but that is really sad if so. A modern day Joe Fischer. Really wish there were more articles or even just a photo essay of his process, and resulting models. Curious if he catalogued everything he built. I had asked him to possibly bu...

Re: Upcoming Stout Auction

...Rumor has it this might be the 1st of several auctions of Larry Sokol's collection..............haven't heard that officially, but time will tell. ... I was wondering who had such a nice collection (and lived out west, based on the liveries of everything being sold) I googled him to see if I cou...

Re: Keywords and eBay

Chris, Maybe someone has a better way to use the interface, but I usually just search for what I want up top and then as long as I get to the model railroards & Trains category, there is a Gauge section and I just Click O. For example, I just did a search from the homepage for "Norfolk and ...

Looking good. Thanks for sharing.

Curious - is there anything that can be done to quiet down the internals of those all-nation diesels? Maybe not and in that case, they make a nice representation of prime mover sounds.

Re: Tough Crowd around here

I have a Facebook account, but was so completely turned off by the sheer garbage that appeared in my inbox thatI had to “unfriend” even family members. I should go at this with an open mind - how do I get to the 2-rail O Scale group without opening myself up once again to photos of others’ meals, k...

Re: Tough Crowd around here

Those look nice, though I know nothing about them to contribute to the conversation. Really should get the word out to make this place the home of the doorstop. Maybe it would attract others that are not aware of this place. Some food for thought: 1. Do the piper cub owners have one or multiple venu...
